This year’s Hebridean Celtic Festival generated an estimated £4 million for the local
economy say organisers.
Attendances to the various musical events in July reached the 17,800 mark.
An internal report says 67% of visitors cited HebCelt as their 'sole reason' or 'main
reason' for visiting Lewis and Harris, with 24% coinciding their trip with visits
to friends and family.
Visitors spent over a week - an average of eight days - on Lewis and Harris.
Leadership changes sees Iain MacPhail, who has been the festival’s site manager for
over a decade, taking on the role of chair of the board, following the departure
of long-serving Gayle Findlay.
Alongside him, Eilidh Laing, a lifelong supporter of HebCelt with extensive experience
across various roles within the festival, has been appointed as vice chair.
With planning for next year’s festival already underway, the HebCelt team are eager
to continue building on this success.
