MV Loch Seaforth’s timetable is on yellow alert with the possibility of disruption or cancellation due to sea state,
All sailings on the Stornoway - Ullapool link were cancelled on Monday due to a heavy northerly swell and strong winds on her route. Tuesday morning’s service was also put off.
The vessel proceed to sea in the afternoon when wind speeds were forecast to ease though seas are still rough. No livestock is being carried as the crossing is expected to be bumpy.
Meanwhile, South Uist’s relief vessel, MV Isle of Mull, will head back to the island today after adverse conditions in the open sea prevented her operating the crossing.
However, passenger numbers are restricted to just 30 on the island bound sailing as the vessel is required to operate under dangerous goods rules while transporting a consignment of heating gas to Uist.
