Cabinet secretary Mairi Gougeon has called on islanders to take part in the Scottish Government's consultation on the National Islands Plan review, which is open until 9 October 2023.
She said: “The National Islands Plan aims to improve the quality of life for island communities.
“As part of this, we have delivered funding across all six island local authorities through the £25.8 million Islands Programme and the £2.4 million Islands Emergency Cost Crisis Fund, and are also supporting six islands on their journey to become carbon neutral through the Carbon Neutral Islands project.
“Created with island communities, the first National Islands Plan launched just a few weeks before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
“As such, the time is right for us to consider what has worked well, what might need to change, and to review if the plan still meets the needs of our island communities.
“As the people most affected by the plan, it is crucial that we hear from islanders so I would encourage anyone with an interest to engage with our consultation.”
A formal consultation to support this review closes at midnight on 9 October 2023.
