Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is encouraging island organisations to apply to UK Government’s Workplace Charging Scheme.

The initiative provides support for organisations towards the cost of installing up to 40 electric vehicle chargepoint sockets at their sites.

The scheme, which will remain open to applications until March 2026, covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints.

The scheme is open to eligible businesses, charities, public sector organisations and small accommodation businesses.

Uisdean Robertson, chair of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee said: “Successive UK Governments have made clear that increasing the use of electrical vehicles will be a key aspect of work to achieve the nations Net Zero targets.

“The Workplace Charging Scheme offers an opportunity for organisations to receive significant support as they equip themselves, their customers and their employees for this move towards electric.

“ would encourage all relevant organisations to review the detail of the scheme and consider applying.”
