MV Glen Sannox has returned to the Ferguson’s Port Glasgow ship yard following a three week drydock in Greenock.

The ferry is one of two dual fuel vessels being built at Ferguson Marine in Port Glasgow.

Her unnamed sister ship, known as Hull 802, is earmarked to take over from MV Hebrides on the Uist and Harris service.

Construction on both vessels are well over four years behind schedule with the shipyard hitting a plague of problems.

With her twin engines and main generators still not operating, the Glen Sannox vessel was towed along the river.

The vessel received essential works on her propulsion systems, seals and bow doors.

A fresh coat of paint was also applied.

The dry dock period is a normal and scheduled part of the build programme said the ship yard.

David Tydeman, chief executive at Ferguson Marine, said: “This is another sign of progress towards delivering MV Glen Sannox.

“She is now prepared for the next stage of the commissioning programme at the yard, as well as ongoing work on the outfitting programme to complete internal accommodation.

“The vessel made a striking image as she moved up the Clyde, back to the shipyard.

“There is a real sense of pride and optimism among the workforce as they can now see the ship they have worked hard for approaching delivery between March and May 2023.”

The next key milestone for MV Glen Sannox is the testing of main engines and generators, scheduled for this autumn.

MV Glen Sannox’s sister vessel, Hull 802 is expected to be delivered between October and December 2023.
