Another Atlantic low impacts the Western Isles and west coast on Tuesday night and
Wednesday.
Despite heavy rain and strong winds, overnight temperatures will be higher than during
brighter daytime spells as colder air moves in from the north west.
A number of ferries face disruption in a force eight gale with strong gusts.
MV Lord of the Isles will depart Lochboisdale at 6.45am - around three hours earlier
than scheduled - setting course for Oban and not Mallaig. She plans to head back
at 1.30pm. Sailings remain liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.
MV Loch Seaforth may remain in Ullapool until Wednesday afternoon, depending on the
forecast. She tied up at the Wester Ross port on her afternoon (Tuesday) arrival.
Her evening run to Stornoway as well as the overnight freight run are cancelled.
Neither will the Wednesday morning departure from Stornoway operate. The 10.30am
sailing departing Ullapool is at heightened risk of cancellation says CalMac.
Tuesday afternoon sailings were cancelled for the Sound of Barra crossing and Wednesday’s
schedule faces upheaval. Gusts up to 50mph are predicted on the route with MV Loch
Alainn’s first timetabled return run cancelled. The forecast is not favourable but
a review will be made for later sailings after assessment of morning weather and
sea state updates.
