
Bòrd na Gàidhlig has awarded £208,000 to support 48 Gaelic community projects across
Scotland through its Taic Freumhan Coimhearsnachd community grants scheme. The projects
will promote and encourage Gaelic use and learning at community level.
A further 30 projects will receive continued support agreed through last year’s round
of funding.
Hands Up for Trad successfully applied for £5,000 to establish Cailearadh, a project
which will provide an opportunity for young people in Uist to work with the RSPB,
Comann na Gàidhlig, and Taigh Chearsabhagh to learn more about the island’s indigenous
natural landscape and language.
Comann Eachdraidh Eirisgeidh receives £7,250 for a local heritage project.
Taigh Dhonnchaidh and Ealain Tìr a' Mhurain are each awarded funding to take on an
events co-ordinator.
Kinloch Historical Society is being supported by £5,750 for its Ceann A Loch - Ar
Cànan ‘S Ar Ceòl project.
Staging workshops through An Taigh Cèilidh in Stornoway will be backed by £5,520.

A project to research and record the Gaelic history of Govanhill in Glasgow will
get £10,000 over two years. Gaelic speakers have been ever present in the area and
Govanhill Baths Community Trust will organise workshops and other sessions to explore
the links between these Gaels and their language and the buildings and other people
in the area.
