Friends of missing Hannah Mackenzie join search

Friends of Hannah Mackenzie have been involved in a search for the missing teenager.

The alarm was raised when she did not return home. Neither did she meet her mother
in Stornoway earlier as arranged -

This evening, Police Scotland they were very grateful for the help and support from the local community.
A statement said: “Officers in the Western Isles would like to thank volunteers and members of the public who have assisted in the ongoing search for Hannah Mackenzie.
“Whilst officers appreciate the assistance, no further volunteers are required as the search continues.”
The secondary school pupil left the Nicolson Institute around 3.50pm after classes ended.
The search is focused around the vast area of the Lews Castle grounds after information
emerged she was spotted at the Creed Lodge after school -
Her friends joined members of the public in assisting emergency services in scouring miles of rough and forested terrain, and dense undergrowth. Quads were also used to cover ground.
Hannah is described as being white, 5'5" tall, slim build, with dark hair worn in a pony tail.
She was last seen wearing black skinny jeans, a dark blue Nicolson Institute sweater, and a black waist length jacket with white lining and white furry strip on the hood.
Anyone with any information or knowledge as to her whereabouts is urged to contact police.
Stornoway coastguard helicopter, Stornoway lifeboat, all Lewis and Harris coastguard coastguard search teams, Hebrides Mountain Rescue, Stornoway Trust personnel and police are involved in the search.
A Salvation Army’s catering van provided for hot drinks and food for the searchers.
