A northerly force eight gale is set to hit the Western Isles late on Monday night and over Tuesday.

Strong winds and rough seas will affect ferry services.

Sailings for Harris and North Uist will run at least one hour behind timetable. The first sailing of the day will not depart Lochmaddy until 8.30am, some 60 minutes late. This will create a knock-on delay for subsequent sailings.

The Castlebay - Oban service is cancelled on Tuesday.

MV Loch Seaforth will be stormbound in Stornoway until Tuesday afternoon due to a heavy swell building up. The vessel will tie up following her arrival from Ullpool this (Monday) evening.  Cal Mac said her freight service will not operate while Tuesday morning runs are cancelled. The service is expected to resume with the lunchtime sailing out of Stornoway.

The first scheduled sailings between Barra and Eriskay are cancelled. Sailings up to the lunchtime are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.
