Flooding is expected in Stornoway and the Bràighe Road at high tide on Monday morning according to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

High tide is predicted for 10.00am though a storm surge effect driven by gale force southerly winds may see the tide coming in sooner and peaking higher than the published height.

SEPA’s warning states: “The prevailing weather forecast, along with very high tides means that flooding from the sea is expected.

“Flooding is possible to Stornoway Harbour and low-lying, roads and properties, particularly Newton St, Quay St, South Beach and North Beach.”

A combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Bràighe adds the agency.
