Stornoway - Ullapool ferry, MV Loch Seaforth remains tied up at the pier due to a
gale accompanied by a bad swell in the Minch this morning.
The vessel’s overnight freight run did not operate and her first passenger sailings
of the day are cancelled. Gusts of 50mph or more are forecast for this morning. The
Seaforth is expected to resume service with the lunchtime 00 sailing out of Stornoway.
Unfavourable sea conditions and strong winds are also impacting on MV Isle of Mull’s
shared service for South Uist and Barra. The vessel has delayed her 6.20am departure
from Lochboisdale in the hope weather conditions will moderate to a safe level. CalMac
asks passengers to check in at 10am warning the vessel may be subject to a further
delay and the sailing is not guaranteed.
The timetabled afternoon run between Oban and Castlebay will also be delayed as a
result and is liable to further disruption or cancellation at short notice.
Sailings on the Skye triangle link are liable to disruption or cancellation at short
notice. Morning sailings are at particular risk.
