Nagging problems after drydock resulted in the Castlebay ferry being taken out of service before she even recommenced her timetable.
Her first Oban to Barra sailing following an extended overhaul was in doubt until the last minute due to repairs to her bow visor.
Issues with her bow visor seal arose when she was floated out of drydock to a layby berth in Aberdeen harbour last week.
The fault was thought to have been fixed and she undertook delayed sea trials when weather allowed.
Despite adverse sea conditions, the ship set off from the north east last night taking a homeward bound course through the Pentland Firth.
Engineers investigated the latest problem when she arrived at Oban at 4.30pm
Cal Mac said it cannot guarantee a sailing. However, repairs were completed in time for a 7.30pm departure to allow a service to operate today.

The shipping company suggested disrupted travellers could catch the MV Lord of the Isles from Oban which arrives South Uist late tonight. Cal Mac will cover overnight hotel expenses and passengers can continue their journey tomorrow.
Due to her crew’s hours of rest MV Lord of the Isles could not divert to Castlebay tonight.
