Two men were caught with cocaine after police stopped their vehicle.

Shane Mackenzie, 23, of Seaview Terrace, Stornoway, and Iain Robertson, 25, of Crossbost, Lewis, both pleaded guilty by letter to the offence.

Procurator fiscal Alison McKenzie told Stornoway Sheriff Court that police officers on patrol spotted a car carrying several individuals turning off onto an unclassified road.

The vehicle was stopped and “as a result of their behaviour” the people inside were detained and searched.

A small quantity of cocaine was found on Mackenzie.

No drugs were discovered on Robertson - who was the driver - but a small bag containing with powder was by the seat next to him.

Sheriff David Sutherland fined each man £300.
