Well known Stornoway restaurant, Digby Chick, has announced it will not reopen after lockdown.
Owners, James and Marianne Mackenzie, released a statement on social media: “We have made the unavoidable decision to close Digby Chick restaurant permanently.
“We have not taken this decision lightly but the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has meant it is no longer financially viable for us to continue to operate, and after 20 years in business it is heartbreaking for us to close the doors on Digby Chick.
“The longevity of our success has been down to our loyal customers, the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff, thank you so very much.”
The restaurant said: “Given the financial position in which the company finds itself, we are unfortunately unable to refund voucher holders.”
One of its famous diners over the years was American TV courtroom celebrity, Judge Judy.

Customers expressed their sadness at the closure.
One said: “It’s such a shame that because of “this situation” that a fantastic local restaurant has had to shut its doors after so many years of hard work and fantastic food bring served.”
Another commented: “Very sorry to hear this but totally understandable in the circumstances. Your restaurant business was a credit to you and a fine example of what can be done with lots of hard work and huge commitment. It's very unfortunate for you and many others due to this current surreal situation.”
