Sir,

After reading Councillor Norrie Macdonald's latest letter (18th Aug) there is no doubt he demonstrates great ability to pontificate. He does struggle with answers though.

I welcome his late entry into trying to find a satisfactory resolution to the mobile library problem. I await with some optimism for his announcement on the 23rd of August.

Although the mobile library services are a concern, his claims on bureaucracy are exceedingly more worrying.

Could it be that Councillor Macdonald does not understand what bureaucracy is? Regardless of what interpretation he wishes to use, they all involve serious waste of resources and heavy financial consequences.

At this time of excessive Westminster austerity where the Conservative government, aided and abetted by the Labour opposition, have put public services under great strain, he should be working to eradicate this bureaucracy.

For Councillor Macdonald to draw a line under this bureaucracy issue at this time would be a dereliction of his duties as an elected member.

May I remind him that he was the person who raised this issue, not me. Why is he so reluctant to provide answers? Is it not in the taxpayers’ interest to know what is happening? Especially with a reduction in personnel.

Councillor Macdonald tells me I should not be questioning him using the same public media as him to ask questions.

Obviously, he has some issues with democracy and peoples individual rights. I have been contacted by a number of people from within and outwith Point who share my concerns.

Does the councillor not think that having exposed the bureaucracy issue publicly, he has a duty to keep people informed?
