Tributes are being paid to former member of the Stornoway Trust, Colin Maclean, who died suddenly in recent days.
Mr Maclean’s funeral takes place on Wednesday. The cortège leaves from Marin’s Memorial Church at 12 noon, travelling via Lewis Street and Scotland Street.
Catriona Murray from the trust said: “Staff and trustees of the Stornoway Trust were saddened by the recent news that Colin Maclean had passed away suddenly.
“Colin was a trustee from 2015 - 2019, and well known for his enthusiastic interest in the Castle Grounds, where he often walked his beloved dogs.
“We remember Colin’s family and friends at this sad time.”
On the Stornoway Trust’s Facebook page Norman MacDonald said Mr Maclean was a “passionate Stornoway cove whose love of the grounds saw him stand for the trust to make a difference. Always stopped for a yarn and craic on his way round.
“A real character with a larger than life personality (and mythology). Sympathy to his family and friends. He will be missed by many.”
Another message said it was “such sad news. A great Stornoway boy and friend to so many, with such a great love for the castle grounds.”
