Medical Ward 2 in Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway has been temporarily closed to new medical admissions, as a small number of positive cases of Covid have been linked to the ward.
To help prevent further spread, the ward will be closed to medical admissions until further notice said the health board.
Restricted visiting will be in place on the ward over the weekend.
People are asked to phone the ward beforehand if they plan to visit. Nobody should visit if they are unwell.
A problem assessment group has been established to ensure all necessary measures are in place to prevent further spread of the virus within the ward.
All visitors to the hospital are reminded to hand sanitise on entry to the hospital and again when entering/leaving a clinical area and to wear a surgical mask (provided) for the duration of their visit.
