The County Hotel in Stornoway is 'open for business' despite a blaze affecting part of the premises five days ago.
Nobody was injured but guests and staff were evacuated after the alarm was raised after 1pm Wednesday afternoon.
Neighbouring businesses including the post office and GP surgery on Francis Street closed as the road was cordoned off during the fire-fighting efforts.
Management and staff took to social media to express their thanks:
“We are delighted to say that we will be open today (Monday) following the recent fire.
“We are overwhelmed with the number of people who called, visited and sent messages offering support over the last few days.”
They extended ‘special thanks’ to the fire service, police, and ambulance services.
“In particular our deepest thanks to Ross Macrae (who was the fire service incident commander leading the fire-fighting efforts) and group commander Dougie Campbell (fire service islands’ group commander), who were exceptional in their duties.”
