A 70-year-old woman was injured after falling while climbing a cliff on Vatersay.

The casualty was struck by falling rock debris on Friday.

She sustained a head injury and the rest of her group called for assistance.

Barra lifeboat was tasked and Stornoway coastguard helicopter flew to the scene.

The woman was airlifted to the helicopter landing area on Barra and transferred to an air ambulance helicopter for an onward flight to a Glasgow hospital for treatment.
