Many Western Isles ferry routes will be impacted by the Christmas weekend storm.
High waves and fierce wind speeds, forecast to exceed 80mph at times , make it too
dangerous to proceed to sea for many ships.
CalMac is advising travellers of cancelled sailings on Saturday and the possibility
of further disruptions.
The Sound of Harris service is cancelled on Saturday. Sailings remain liable disruption
or cancellation on Sunday at short notice.
Barra - Eriskay sailings face disruption or cancellation at short notice. Customers
are advised to travel today (Friday).
MV Isle of Lewis will tie up in Castlebay until Monday.
The Saturday 2.50am freight service from Ullapool to Stornoway is cancelled. No service
operates on Sunday morning while the Sunday night run faces disruption.
MV Loch Seaforth’s passenger Stornoway - Ullapool timetable is cancelled for Saturday.
Neither will Sunday sailing out of Stornoway operate. The Ullapool departure on Sunday
evening may run if weather abates but remains liable to disruption.
Lochboisdale ferry, MV Lord of the Isles will be stormbound in port until Monday.
She is running two hours late today (Friday) due to refuelling delay in Mallaig and
is expected to arrive in South Uist at 6.30pm.
Due to the adverse weather forecast for Saturday, all Skye triangle sailings are
cancelled. A review over the potential for MV Hebrides to sail at some point on Sunday
takes place on Saturday afternoon. Due to adverse weather forecast and re-fuelling
requirements, Monday’s early evening departure from Uig is liable to delays.
