Strong winds strengthening to a force eight gale accompanied by rough seas risk hampering
ferry journeys to and from the Western Isles today.
If the weather comes in as forecast, the rising wind will be behind MV Loch Seaforth
on her morning voyage to Ullapool. However, swell conditions may cause the vessel
to delay or cancel later sailings. Livestock will be carried on a case-by-case basis
from mid-morning.
Tonight’s freight sailings which are also liable to disruption will not carry livestock.
Due to strong winds gusting to 40mph or more, the Castlebay - Oban service has been
placed on yellow alert.
The skipper of MV Lord of the Isles will assess weather conditions early in the morning
before a final decision on sailing.
