CalMac has issued a disruption alert as a spell of strong gale force winds may impact some Western Isles sea routes

The Sound of Barra service was suspended early this morning due to strong south easterly airflow.

The ferry commenced sailings after 9am but the reminder than the rest of the day’s timetable is subject to weather conditions.

MV Clansman’s morning sailings are also liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.
