Travellers get a peek at (some) CalMac summer timetables

7 December 2024

CalMac’s first phase of timetables for the summer 2025 season are now available to view online. The timetables will operate from 28 March to 19 October.

However, tickets for the summer period cannot be purchased yet. Bookings for phase one of the summer 2025 timetable will be available on the CalMac website at 8am on 19 December. Bookings will then open from 9am by phone and port offices.

Timetables presently available for browsing include Stornoway-Ullapool, Skye triangle routes, Oban-Castlebay, Kennacraig-Islay, and Arran.

Sailing schedules for the remaining routes and second phase of timetables are currently being finalised. Further updates will be provided early in the new year.

Pauline Blackshaw, Director of Strategy and Change at CalMac, said: “I am pleased to confirm that phase one of our summer timetables are now available to view.

“We understand the importance for our customers of being able to plan their summer travel well in advance and worked hard to make as many routes as possible available within phase one.

“For the remaining routes within phase two, we are continuing to navigate the planning process, including ongoing engagement with communities and the development of tidal timetables.

"We want to make sure we get this right so while we couldn’t release all routes immediately, this phased approach demonstrates our commitment to providing a well-considered solution while making as many routes as possible available before the Christmas period. I extend my gratitude to our customers for their support and patience as we work through this process.”

Alongside this, Transport Scotland has confirmed that from Summer 2025, a two-vessel service will operate on Ardrossan-Brodick for 10 months of the year, except during scheduled overhauls where CalMac will temporarily operate a single-vessel service. MV Caledonian Isles will operate to and from Ardrossan, and MV Glen Sannox will operate to and from Troon, significantly increasing the capacity to Arran.

Indeed, MV Glen Sannox is set to be in active operation with CalMac long before the summer season. The current aim is to start introducing her into service around the middle of January.
