CalMac will restart normal ferry services to North Uist and Harris after Highland Council provided assurances Uig pier is finally safe and ready to accommodate vehicles.
Outstanding work to ensure proper access onto MV Hebrides at Uig harbour is now said to be complete.
Skye triangle ferry services will commence in the morning (Tuesday).
A similar pledge was given last week by pier owners Highland Council which maintained the structure was in a fit state to go back into service even though it wasn’t.
Problems emerged at the temporary linkspan alignment and limited turning space at the council owned pier, making it impossible for longer vehicles to access the linkspan to board the ship.
On the eve of reopening after ten weeks closure, Highland Council imposed a length restriction, preventing vehicles over 10 metres in length from transiting in and out of Uig.
Chaos erupted with CalMac forced to divert MV Hebrides sailing away from Skye.
The debacle “caused enormous disruption and upset to our customers,” said the shipping operator.
Since passengers have altered their plans following last week’s chaotic stoppage, the temporary timetable will remain in place as planned until tonight.

During periods of low tide, the carriage of some cars, trailers, campervans, caravans and motorhomes may be subject to restrictions.

Passengers who may have been affected previously by the Uig closure may also be entitled to a retrospective refund.
